Prototype Winter Series with authorisation of the ACO

The Prototype Winter Series is the new winter series for LMP cars. It has now been announced that it will be organized with authorization of the ACO, the head organiser and trademark holder of Le Mans Motorsport.

Four meetings from January to March
The Prototype Winter Series takes place in Estoril, Portimao, Aragón and Barcelona. With two 50-minute races +1 lap each, it offers one or two drivers the option of racing. The calendar deliberately omits the Asian Le Mans Series in order to avoid clashes and allow teams to participate in both series.

ACO supports the Prototype Winter Series
The French ACO (Automobile Club de l’Ouest) is the organizer of the famous Le Mans endurance classic as well as all renowned LM racing series. It holds the brand rights and service contracts with the suppliers.
“The cooperation with the ACO is a real milestone for us,” says PTWS series coordinator Stefan Lehner, “we are very happy and grateful for the ACO’s willingness to support us.” In sporting terms, this means support by the car manufacturers on site by providing parts and tires. In addition, the ACO will make its regulations available.

Michelin as tyre partner
The “black gold” provided by Michelin will be used as the standard tyre for all LMP3 cars. This guarantees equal opportunities across the entire field and also allows the teams to build up on existing experience from other racing series.

Series starts in January – all races live on stream
The Prototype Winter Series starts on 13/14 January 2024 in Estoril. All races will be streamed live on the PTWS website and on the Winter Series YouTube channel.
