Prototype Winter Series teams starting off strong in the summer

More than two months have passed since the last Prototype Winter Series race – the final 55-minute race at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on March 10th took place. As much as we love to look back on our first winter season, we took a step in the other direction and peeked a quick look at what and how our Prototype Winter Series competitors are doing during the current summer season:

Numerous teams that began 2024 racing in the inaugural PTWS season have performed well thus far in the European Le Mans Series. With two strong results so far this year in LMP3, including a second place on the first weekend of May at Le Castellet, DKR Engineering sit fourth in the standings with a driver line-up including Belen Garcia, Alexander Mattschull and Wyatt Brichacek, the latter of whom raced with DKR in our second round at Portimao.
Inter Europol Competition are running well across both prototype classes of ELMS, showcasing good potential with the Ligier JSP320 that is familiar to the PTWS, and leading the standings in LMP2 after a victory at Le Castellet.

R-ace GP came into PTWS at our Barcelona season finale as newcomers to LMP3 racing, and the driver line-up from that weekend in March immediately started their Michelin Le Mans Cup campaign with a strong effort. At the season-opener, also in Barcelona, they finished second. This was followed up with a third place finish in Le Castellet, leaving them second in the current LMP3 standings.

Our teams’ champions ANS Motorsport have also had a positive first two rounds of the season, and will look to challenge for podiums going forward in the LMP3 class of MLMC.

The Prototype Cup Germany was scheduled to begin at Spa on the 19th and 20th of April. However, weather conditions during the event were far from ideal, and sadly neither scheduled race could take place. PTWS regulars including Konrad Motorsport, drivers’ champion Danny Soufi, Gebhardt Motorsport, Muhlner Motorsport and Rinaldi Racing were all keen to race in the Ardennes; however, even Racing Experience and their loyal mascot Simba The Race Dog largely had to hide away in the team truck!

The Prototype Cup Germany season will truly open with a newly-expanded second round of the season at the Lausitzring.
